Chair Caning Instructions are available FREE for the DIY enthusiast, both on video and in text here below. There are two methods of caning a seat or back, so make sure that you are aware of the two types before caning. For example, a chair seat with holes around the frame will indicate that the seat has been originally hand woven. A groove in the seat frame will indicate pe-woven rattan webbing has been fitted into the seat.
It is however possible in most cases to fit rattan webbing into a seat frame with holes by routing a groove (marry all the holes up to one continuous groove).
